The US is grounding its Osprey fleet after a series of accidents

CV-22 Osprey fleet grounded ‘as a precaution’ following fatal crashes in which hybrid aircraft were involved of the type in question, with the most recent one claiming the lives of eight American soldiers in Japan at the end of November, the armed forces announced USA.

The head of the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) has “decided that there will be an operational shutdown” of the type’s aircraft, which have the ability to land vertically as helicopters and fly as airplanes, according to a press release issued by the services on Wednesday (6/12) as reported by the Athens News Agency citing AFP.

Another press release, from the marine corps, said that the grounding of the aircraft was decided “as a precaution”.
