The US military may soon get their hands on a “predicting the future” system. Of course, there is no fantasy here, but everything looks quite curious.
Recently, the US Northern Command completed a series of tests called the Global Information Dominance Experiments (GIDE), which can be translated as experiments on global information dominance.
The experiments are based on a certain platform that combines artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data from various sensors and cameras. All this gives the Pentagon the ability to predict certain events in a few days. Of course, everything is very arbitrary and relative, but it seems to work.
The machine learning-based system monitors changes in raw data in real time that indicate potential problems. For example, if satellite imagery shows signs that a rival country’s submarine is preparing to leave port, the AI can mark this mobilization, knowing that the ship is likely to leave soon. It can take hours or even days for military analysts to comb through this information, and GIDE technology can send an alarm in “seconds”
