The US Navy tested the latest nuclear aircraft carrier with the strongest explosions – video

The United States has conducted new tests of the first-in-class US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, Gerald R. Ford. The military staged several powerful explosions in order to test how the ship’s systems work after strong shocks. Writes about this The Drive.

Tests of this type of ship are called Full Ship Shock Trials, their task is to check the reliability of all ship systems, as well as nuclear reactor elements, sensor systems and crew support elements. The crew of the ship must be prepared for serious damage, and the military must be able to respond to this potential hazard.

“It’s all about finding weaknesses and fixing them. Any problems can also affect the construction of future airliners such as Gerald R. Ford, three of which are currently at the stage of assembly and four more are planned to be built,” the journalists write.

The last time such tests were carried out 34 years ago on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, the newspaper notes. The results of these tests are still unknown.
