“Yes” to a new aid package of 2 billion to the Ukraine and its neighbors, in the form of loans for the purchase of American weapons, the US said in its midst counterattack launched by Kyiv from last week.
The decision will be announced today, Thursday (8/9) by the Minister of Foreign Affairs USA Anthony Blinken, stated a State Department official as reported by the Athens News Agency. The new foreign military aid package will cover Ukraine and 18 other countries at risk of a future Russian attack, the official said.
Joe Biden’s administration is notifying the US Congress of its intention to make the funding available for long-term investments, according to the official, who did not specify which other countries will receive aid and which portion is intended for Ukraine.
According to the US State Department, the aid is in addition to the $675 million package directly military aid to Ukraine announced today by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
