The US wants to work with countries in the region to rebuild Gaza

The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today that several countries have agreed to coordinate their efforts with those of the US to help the Gaza Strip after the war raging between them Israel and Hamas.

“We agreed to work together and coordinate our efforts to help stabilize and rebuild Gaza, to chart a political path for the Palestinians and work for peace, security and stability in the long term,” he said from Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, the head of American diplomacy said that during his visit to the Saudi kingdom he discussed the normalization of relations with Israel, adding that there is “clear interest to continue in this direction”. “We talked about it on every station, and certainly here in Saudi Arabia. And I can tell you that there is a clear interest to continue in this direction”he told reporters before flying to Israel as part of his tour of the region.

Saudi Arabia suspended negotiations on a possible normalization of its relations with Israel a week after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.

Blinken arrived late tonight in Tel Aviv where he will hold what are expected to be difficult talks with the Israeli authorities tomorrow, stressing mainly “the absolute imperative” to protect Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

Arriving from Saudi Arabia, Blinken also intends to press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government on the future of the Gaza Strip, based on what he heard in Arab capitals during his tour.
