It is the first time Australia has hosted the high-level meeting since 2019 due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are very satisfied with the steps we are taking in this regard by establishing a guided weapons and explosive munitions business in this country,” Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles said.
He expressed hope that missile manufacturing could begin in Australia in two years, “as part of a collective industrial base between our two countries”.
Marles even said there would be “increased rate of visits by US nuclear submarines in our waters” under the bilateral agreement.
