The USD/CAD rises about 1,4380 after US labor market data and Canada

  • The USD/CAD rises about 1,4380 after the publication of the US employment data for February.
  • The Canadian dollar weakens since the economy barely added new workers in February.
  • The US NFP data disappoint estimates by a slight margin.

The USD/body wins strongly to about 1,4380 in the American session on Friday. The torque attracts significant offers after the publication of the February market data from both the United States (USA) and Canada.

The Canadian dollar (CAD) collapses since Statistics Canada reported that the workforce barely grew last month. The Canadian economy added new workers, while economists hoped that employers had added 20K Employment search engines, less than January 76k. The unemployment rate remains stable at 6.6% compared to estimates of 6.7%. The average hourly profits, a key measure of salary growth, accelerated at a robust rate of 4% since the previous publication of 3.7%.

It is expected that weak labor market data will increase market expectations that the Bank of Canada (BOC) will cut interest rates again at its monetary policy meeting on Wednesday.

The Canadian dollar has been low last performance since the president of the USA, Donald Trump, has imposed 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico. It has relaxed tariffs on goods that meet the treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (T-MEC) until April 2.

During the negotiation hours in North America on Friday, Trump ordered a reduction in the tariff rate for potassium not in accordance with 10% T -MEC from 25% – notice of the Federal Registry.

In the US region, non -agricultural payrolls (NFP) were less than 151K compared to 160K estimates, but remained above 125K seen in January. The unemployment rate accelerated to 4.1% from estimates and the previous publication of 4%. A US NFP slightly lower than expectations would weigh on the market expectations that the Federal Reserve (FED) will maintain stable interest rates for longer.
