Ambarella recently introduced an image processor that uses artificial intelligence technology (AISP).
The company said in a statement that the new product combines 17 years of experience in the development of image processors (ISPs), the best-in-class artificial intelligence unit CVflow and the new Ambarella architecture based on artificial intelligence, which uses neural networks to process images using hardware ISP integrated into single-chip system. This approach is said to produce color images with minimal noise in very low light conditions, which are 10 to 100 times better than those provided by other modern ISPs. In addition, the new processor delivers “new levels” of HDR processing with more natural colors and greater dynamic range.

At CES 2022, the new AISP was shown as part of SoC CV2, but within a year it will be included in all Ambarella CVflow SoCs and will support resolutions up to 4K. Its applications include security cameras and vehicle cameras, where full color night vision is critical to the job.
