In response to the statement by the CEO of the electric car manufacturer Elon Musk that the company will resume working with cryptocurrency when it receives confirmation of reaching 50% of the share of clean energy in the consumption of miners, Zhuer wrote:
“Now all mining enterprises in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Qinghai provinces have been stopped, only the hydropower farms in Sichuan are left. Currently, the use of clean energy for bitcoin mining already exceeds 50%. ”
Tesla announced that it would suspend Bitcoin car sales in May, citing concerns about the sustainability of mining the asset.
“We are concerned about the rapid increase in the use of fossil fuels for Bitcoin mining and transactions, especially coal, which has the worst emissions of any fuel,” the statement said.
At the end of the month, Musk met with representatives of North American mining companies to discuss the prospects for using green energy in the industry. The meeting was organized by Michael Saylor, CEO of MicroStrategy.
