At the Venice Film Festival clothes have always been king, and there is no year in which there is no discussion of how divas choose to dress up to parade on the red carpet and take all the flashes and applause. It must be said that great actresses have always found a way to be talked about even outside the Great Hall: how Scarlett Johansson, which in 2006 showed up on the red carpet 45 minutes late due to a precious clip.
Or how Lady Gaga, which in 2018 made its appearance at the premiere of A star is born with a feather dress in the pouring rain. What are, however, the most incredible creations that have remained in our memory? How deep is the bond that binds Venice to fashion?
The fourth episode of Venezia My Love, the new podcast of Vanity Fair dedicated to the Venice International Film Festival which, a year and a half after the outbreak of the pandemic, returns to the Lido with an edition, the seventy-eighth, scheduled from 1st to 11th September, speaks of this: of the clothes that have made the most of the exhibition in its long history and of the desire to exaggerate, to amaze and to remain, for better or for worse, etched in the minds of those who were there or would have liked to be there.
