The Vivo X Fold foldable smartphone will be cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3, but it will offer an advanced camera, a larger battery and much faster charging

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 is in steady demand and, in fact, is the king in its segment, newcomers are coming, and coming hard. First, Oppo showed that a foldable smartphone with a large flexible screen is quite possible to get rid of the crease in the display, which Samsung has not yet been able to do, and now Vivo is preparing to introduce its new product. And Vivo X Fold is likely to offer the best camera in the segment.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 has three 12-megapixel sensors, as well as wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses (the latter with a focal length of 52 mm, which is presented as a 2x optical zoom relative to the main lens with 26 mm EGF). Vivo X Fold looks much more interesting. The main sensor is 50-megapixel with an optical format of 1/1.57 inches. The second, 48-megapixel, is paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The third module has a 12-megapixel sensor and a portrait lens with a 2x zoom (just like the third module from Samsung), but the fourth periscope lens will provide much more optical zoom. True, its resolution will be lower – 5 or 8 megapixels.

Other highlights of the Vivo X Fold include Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 4600mAh battery with 66W wired charging support and 50W wireless power. The outer screen is 6.53 inches, Full HD + resolution and 120 Hz, while the inner screen is 8 inches.

Prices are given for the Chinese market, where the novelty will debut. The base Vivo X Fold with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is expected to cost 12,000 yuan, while the top one with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is expected to cost 13,000 yuan. These are 1885 and 2045 dollars in equivalent. A lot, but the Galaxy Z Fold3 in China is even more expensive – for a single configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of flash memory, they ask for 14,000 yuan, or $ 2,200. So Vivo X Fold will not only be better than its most eminent competitor in many ways, but also cheaper.
