British singer Max George 36, former member of The Wanted honored Liam Payne after confirmation of his death, aged 31, in Argentina. In a post on social media, the artist recalled the support of the former One Direction member after the death of Tom Parker victim of brain cancer in 2022.
“Absolutely devastating news. I met Liam a long time ago when 1D were on the X Factor. Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of getting to know him personally and spent some precious time with him,” Max began writing.
“Liam was absolutely wonderful in terms of support when Tom fell ill, performing at the Royal Albert Hall with us for Stand Up To Cancer. He was very supportive of me personally after Tom passed away. I will never forget that”, he further reported.
Tom Parker was one of the five vocalists in The Wanted. The boyband announced their hiatus in 2014, two years before One Direction. In 2020, Parker was diagnosed with a brain tumor and began chemotherapy treatment.
Before the singer’s death on March 30, 2022, the band got together for a series of shows, which raised money for a cancer charity.
“My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans around the world at this tragic time. Rest in peace, Liam. Much love, brother”, concluded Max George in his text.
