The American newspaper The Washington Post, owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos, has opened an office in the Ukrainian capital, reports the Ukrainian agency Ukrinform, citing the relevant press release of the newspaper.
“For many months now, The Post has been devoting significant resources to covering rising tensions along Russia’s border with Ukraine and, ultimately, the subsequent Russian invasion,” said international reporter Douglas Jehl. “As the war enters a protracted phase, this office will allow us to cover events on the ground and ensure that we continue to provide the unique and authoritative journalism for which readers around the world rely on us.”
The head of the office will be Isabel Khurshudyan, a former correspondent for the Moscow newspaper who has been reporting in Ukraine since January, and Max Berak, a former head of the Nairobi office who has been reporting from Ukraine for two months. They will lead a team consisting of Ukrainian journalist David Stern and alternating correspondents, photographers and videographers.
