The watershed in Sifnos is a subsidiary of Hellenic Seaplanes

The tender process for the promotion of the company that will take over the Sifnos waterfront, within the port zone in Platis Gialos, was successfully completed.

Following the tender procedure, the competent committee, set up by the Municipal Port Fund of Sifnos, selected Hellenic Seaplanes as the contractor investor, which through the subsidiary “Sifnos IKE Aqueduct” will undertake the construction and operation of the seaport.

Both the Municipal and the Port Authority have a decisive role for the implementation of the project not to be left in the plans but on the contrary to pass to the implementation phase. The Mayor of Sifnos, Mrs. Maria Nadali and the President of the Municipal Port Fund, Mr. Apostolos Diamantis have started, immediately after the completion of the tender, the joint design with the contractor, of all the steps required for the construction and management of the seaport .

Following the tender process, the President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nikolas Charalambous stated:

“It is a very good day, a historic day for the island of Sifnos, a very important project for the air connection of the island is progressing and its completion is underway in 2022. The first network in the Cyclades Athens, Tinos, Patmos and the expansion to Sifnos will be operational soon, substantially improving the access of residents and visitors to our islands.

After many years of effort, through many difficulties and unprecedented conditions for Greece, we have gained the experience to lead the process at a fast pace and to include the island of Sifnos in the flight program of the South Aegean. I must mention and I want to thank all the contributors who have contributed, to reach today and the beginning of the process of completion of the waterway: the Island Bodies, the Mayor, the President of the Municipal Port Fund, the South Aegean Region and the Regional governor who has paved the way for the network of waterways throughout the N. Aegean. It is also important to mention the contribution of the current government, which has vigorously contributed to solving the existing problems and to tackling everything with the intention of completing the project of creating a network of waterways in Greece. ”

Hellenic Seaplanes opens the curtain of flights in the Aegean

The airline aspires to be the first to cut the thread of seaplane travel in the Aegean Sea, creating the first network of seaports with destinations in both the Cyclades and the Dodecanese.

In particular, the flight plan of Hellenic Seaplanes includes in the first phase Tinos, where the waterway infrastructure is under construction, Patmos with the projects to be completed very soon while Sifnos is now added to the plan, with the completion of the tender process for construction of the waterway which will start immediately.

Against the background of the start of flights within the year, the initiative of the South Aegean Region and the Regional Governor Mr. George Hatzimarkos is progressing and evolving with steady steps, with its content concerning the licensing of 30 waterways on the islands of Rhodes (2 waterways), (2 waterways), Paros, Naxos, Milos, Syros, Amorgos, Kalymnos, Lipsi, Leros, Halki, Symi, Tilos, Karpathos, Kastelorizo, Agathonisi, Nisyros, Astypalea, Kasos, Mykonos, Santorini, Santorini, Santorini , Serifos, Donoussa and Anafi. Despite the delays and obstacles brought by the coronavirus, the ultimate goal is to create a strong network of waterways that will highlight the multifaceted capabilities of the seaplane as a means of transport and the ease of movement of local islanders and tourists.

In the agenda of the issues to be discussed that had the involved bodies with the participation of Hellenic Seaplanes and the Undersecretary in charge of waterways and the operation of seaplanes, Mr. Michalis Papadopoulos, at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure were:

1. Acceleration of licensing and construction of waterways
2. Simplification of environmental licensing procedures
3. Fuel frame and creation of seaplane supply network

Regarding the network of waterways that is created in our country, the discussion focused on the current situation of the integrated and potential waterways in our country and concern the waterways in South Aegean, Ionian and Sporades, their level of readiness and pending issues that need to be resolved around issues such as resolving key issues concerning existing waterway dossiers, speeding up licensing times, etc.

The CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nikolas Charalambous stated:
