The week begins with an extreme heat wave still active in the Southeast and Center-West of Brazil

A The extreme heat wave that hits the Southeast and Central-West regions of Brazil is expected to continue at the beginning of the week . The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) warned of danger and great danger regarding above-average temperatures until at least Monday (6).

The type of alert made by Inmet includes health risks, as temperatures are forecast to be 5°C above average and lasting for more than five days. The warning was issued at the end of April, on Saturday (27).

The worst scenario is in the region that spans from north and west of Paraná, south and east of Mato Grosso, in addition to the interior of São Paulo and the Triângulo Minas Gerais . These areas are forecast to have temperatures 5°C above average for more than five days.

The city of São Paulo reached a new temperature record for the month of May on Saturday (4), according to Civil Defense. The capital reached 32.5°C and this was the third day in a row that the municipality reached this record.

Already a large part of Espírito Santo and Minas Gerais, including the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, Zona da Mata covering the North and South regions of Rio de Janeiro are still experiencing a heat wave.
