“I can speak for all artists when I say that it is difficult to put into words the love and energy that the Brazilian people express when you are on stage,” the musician told the outlet. The last time The Weeknd was in the country was to promote the “After Hours” tour, which mainly included songs from the albums “After Hours” (2020) and “Dawn FM” (2022), the latest released by the star.
“You feel music deeply,” he continued, saying of the Brazilian audience. “São Paulo and Rio reminded me that the frequencies we emit as musicians are important. They reminded me why I wanted to make music: to connect. I will spend the rest of my life being aware of that.”
The Weeknd will perform in Brazil on Saturday (7), at the MorumBIS stadium, in the south of the city of São Paulo. On social media, some people speculate that the pop artist will also perform during the half-time of the first game of the National Football League (NFL) on Brazilian soil, which will take place on Friday night (6).
The expectation is that The Weeknd will sing at least some of the new repertoire. Last Wednesday (4), the musician released, through social media, his new studio album. The project is titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow” and promises to close the trilogy that began with the two previously released albums.
“There’s always pressure to top my last project,” he told Billboard of the new era. “Growth is important. Sometimes it might not be what people want to hear from me at the moment, but when the body of work is complete, I hope they can appreciate what I’ve been trying to achieve. I’ve been working on this discography for a long time. It’s all been planned.”
