“The West caused Putin’s invasion of Ukraine,” says Farage

Nigel Farage, the leader of Britain’s far-right Reform UK party, said the eastward enlargement of the EU and NATO had prompted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. His comments, made during a BBC interview that aired late last night, drew sharp criticism from across the political spectrum in Britain ahead of the July 4 general election in which Farage’s party is expected to win millions of votes. Farage said he stood by the positions he took shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 when he posted on social media that the move was “a consequence of EU and NATO enlargement” and added that he had predicted war with Ukraine as early as 2014.
