The White House sends Steve Whitkov to Russia for talks about the war in Ukraine

US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that White House Special Envoy Steve Whitkov will go to Russia as soon as he has completed his contacts in Israel. The Republican president did not give a timetable, nor specific details of Mr Whitkov’s trip, who previously had extensive conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Mr Trump has given Mr Putin until August 8th to close the agreement to stop the war in Ukraine, noting that otherwise he will impose even more cruel economic sanctions.
