‘The Witcher’ Fans Open Petition to Bring Back Henry Cavill and Fire the Writers

On October 29, Henry Cavill surprised his followers by announcing that he will be leaving his leading role as Geralt of Rivia in the acclaimed Netflix series The Witcher.

Incredibly, the actor’s departure does not mark the end of the Show, So the platform streaming confirmed that Liam Hemsworth will be the new protagonist. But the replacement has not been to the liking of viewers, who launched a petition through Change.org, requesting the reinstatement of Cavill and the dismissal of the writers of the series.

Henry Cavill is a huge fan of the books of The Witcher, written by Andrzej Sapkowski, so his performance as Geralt of Rivia has been exceptional. However, his acting talent and knowledge of the plot have served him little in these last two seasons of the series, which have been quite different from what is described in the books.

It is said that the scriptwriters in charge of the Show they do not agree with the original source, therefore, they decided to make changes to the story, generating creative conflicts between the production and Cavill, who has chosen to withdraw from the project.

The followers of the series and Geralt de Rivia have shown their discontent with what happened, creating a petition through Change.org to ask Netflix to return Cavill and get rid of the writing team that does not adhere to the original material. So far, the petition adds more than 72 thousand signatures.

It is worth mentioning that Cavill will still appear in the third season of the series. However, Liam Hemsworth has already signed on to play the fourth and fifth installments, so the online petition might not have much of an impact with Netflix executives.
