The woman who died in the Sarco suicide capsule was found with signs of strangulation

The first use of the Sarco suicide capsule in a forest in Switzerland ended in tragedy, as the 64-year-old American woman who used it was reportedly found with strangulation marks on her neck. The incident happened near a log cabin in the Merishausen region of Switzerland on September 23, when the woman allegedly pressed the button that activates the nitrogen injection, causing fatal hypoxia. Dr. Florian Willet, chairman of the Swiss company The Last Resort that manages Sarco, was arrested along with others at the scene. He remains in custody almost five weeks after the woman’s death, and is the only one present when the mother-of-two died. According to the Daily Mail, authorities are now investigating the possibility of homicide, with prosecutor Peter Sticher suggesting that it may be “premeditated homicide,” as the 64-year-old had serious neck injuries, as reported by a medical examiner.
