The ‘world’s most boring city’ is looking for a ‘night czar’

40 years ago the comedian Allan Fotheringham characterized her Ottawa as “the most boring city in the world” and he was allegedly not wrong, since the capital of Canada is looking for a “czar” of nightlife.

The goal is to the economy is stimulated, especially at nightas it is estimated that the city’s residents spend nothing from the moment the sun goes down, with many shops and restaurants closing up almost immediately.

Characteristically, it ranks in lower level in the number of businesses and workers on nightlife and household spending in the eveningbased on government officials.

So the city is looking for someone who can liven up the nightlife and according to it Washington Post the specific position may be called “night mayor”, “nighttime commissioner” or “night czar”.

However, some residents dispute the “world’s dullest city” label, saying it’s a misconception from the past, but they don’t deny the changes in nightlife.

Its owner Bar Robo and of Q Bar, Scott May, told the American publication that in 1970 Ottawa had strict alcohol lawswhile many art scenes are considered underground, so they are not known to those who do not live in the city. But when asked about hiring a “night czar,” he said it would be a positive change that would solve many problems in Canada’s capital.
