While the first Chinese Mars rover Zhurong is just preparing for its journey on Mars, the Yutu-2 lunar rover will soon return to work on the Moon.

The lunar rover was put into hibernation mode on April 19, as a moonlit night fell in the place of its deployment, and the device is powered by solar panels. In total, the rover has already survived 29 lunar nights.

After activation, Yutu-2 intends to travel further to the northeast of the South Pole – Aitken basin, where scientists hope to find basalt rocks, the study of which will better understand the history of the formation of the Moon.

Recall also that at one time the Chinese lunar rover came across a strange lunar gel, which eventually turned out to be a glassy mass, probably formed as a result of a meteorite falling.
