One hundred and fifty years of contribution to Greek education in Constantinople is completing this year’s Zappeion School and this was celebrated yesterday, May 21, with an event honored by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. “We are proud of our historical school, a model school in the city, which, as it is written, has fed thousands of children with spiritual manna, who endowed them with knowledge and humanity, valuables for laborious life, but also for the best future,” said Ecumenos. It is memorable that in 1879, just four years after its establishment, Zappeion was recognized by the Greek Council of Greece as an equal to Arsakeio.
