“Them”: 2nd season of horror debuts on streaming; get to know

The second season of the disturbing and critically acclaimed horror series, “Them” premiered on Thursday (26) on the streaming service Prime Video . Repeating the previous success, the new episodes reached 100% critical and public approval to date.

The first season of the series, released in 2021, has 79% critical approval from 83% of the public. With the aim of placing the racism as the “villain” of history, the two seasons are independent of each other, bringing different stories.

In 2021, the story focused on a black family who moves from North Carolina to an all-white neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1953, where their idyllic home becomes ground zero for malevolent forces.

The new season takes place in 1991, in the city of Los Angeles, United States, where detective Dawn Reeve is tasked with investigating an extremely shocking murder: the owner of a foster home is found dead and her body has multiple fractures.

“As in the first season of 'Them,' the horror has as much to do with institutional racism as it does with some kind of apparition or monster,” wrote Joel Keller of decide, through Rotten Tomatoesa website that brings together opinions from specialized critics.

“A deeply disturbing and terrifying season that fully embraces the things horror fans love,” wrote Tessa Smith of Mama's Geeky.

The cast of the second season is made up of Deborah Ayorinde, Pam Grier, Luke James, Joshua J. Williams and Jeremy Bobb.
