“There are different positions and sensitivities” for Ukraine’s accession to the EU

Joining European Union demands a unanimous agreement of the 27 members of the Union and at the moment “there are different positions and sensitivities” between them on the issue, said the President of the European Council Charles Michel.

«Joining is a request that has been made for a long time from Ukraine. “But there are different positions and sensitivities within the EU on enlargement,” said Charles Michel, referring to the pre-Russian data.

“Ukraine will send a formal request, the European Commission will formulate its official position and the Council will express itself,” Charles Michel was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse and the Athens-based News Agency.

The Czech Prime Minister supports Ukraine’s efforts to join the EU

The Czech Republic supports Ukraine’s efforts to join the European Union, Prime Minister Petr Fiala said today, according to the CTK news agency.

Fiala said it was necessary to send a clear message that Ukraine is welcome in the community of democracies in Europe, according to the CTK.
