Demand for smart speakers among Russians increased by 2.6 times over the past year. According to M.Video-Eldorado, sales of gadgets in Russia for the first time exceeded 1 million units. For example, two times more speakers were sold on OZON than in 2020, on Russian AliExpress – three times more. Experts attribute the demand for these devices to the increased interest in the smart home, since the speakers are easily integrated into its ecosystem and allow you to give voice commands by controlling connected gadgets. Moreover, it is easier to do this through a speaker than through a smartphone. This is reported by the publication “Izvestia”.
The M.Video-Eldorado study states that 1.3 million smart speakers were sold in 2021. The largest number was sold in December – more than 450 thousand pieces. In the retailer itself, the demand for these gadgets has quadrupled. The top three most popular models include devices from Yandex – “Station Mini” with a clock, “Station Light” and “Station”. The best-selling speakers on the local AliExpress were “Capsule” from VK and “Yandex.Station”.
In addition to integration into the smart home, the growth in demand for smart speakers is also associated with the frequent entry into the market of new devices in this category and the pandemic, as people began to experience a lack of communication, spending most of their time at home. Experts believe that the demand for smart speakers will remain at a high level this year.
