Analyst firm Counterpoint has published a fresh report on the smartphone market in China for January 2021. As it turned out, the largest smartphone market in the world has undergone significant changes and even changed the leader.

For the first time, Oppo was able to rank first in China in terms of the number of smartphones sold per month. The share of Oppo was 21%, overtaking the previous leaders. Vivo is in second place with a share of 20%. followed by Huawei, Apple and Xiaomi. Moreover, each of the last three companies received 16%.

Particularly severe was the fall of Huawei, which reigned in the Chinese market with a 46% share in the second quarter of 2020. In the fourth quarter, the company’s share dropped to 30%. Note that the company has separated the Honor brand from itself in order to remove it from the US sanctions. This, of course, could not but affect the level of sales taken into account by analysts.
