The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic Luciano Bivar (União Brasil) declared, this Tuesday (7), in an interview with CNN that there is no chance of being on the same platform as President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in the future.
“Impossible, zero chance. Because we have another line. We are liberal, both economically and democratically. We are the Democrats. Our positioning is very clear and distinct. There’s no reason to be on any other line than ours, which I’ve been defending for two decades,” said Bivar.
Justifying his speech, the federal deputy claimed that “the lashings of democracy” by the chief executive are “public and notorious”. “There’s no need to worry about using force. We have the courts, we want to defend the institutions.”
Bivar’s pre-application was presented on May 31. At the time, he proclaimed that it would be “cowardly” for the party not to present a candidate, given the polarization between Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and Bolsonaro.
Sergio Moro
Luciano Bivar referred to former judge Sergio Moro as a person who has everything to be an important Brazilian political figure. The parliamentarian communicated that he already knew that by joining União Brasil he would not be a candidate for the Planalto Palace.
“I don’t think he arrived too thirsty. He was even, in relation to his feeling, very detachment. Because he came to União Brasil knowing that he wouldn’t have the legend to be president. He left the candidacy that was in the political party, in his opinion I cannot say, but I believe that the logistics of that party would not catapult him to be elected, so he decided to go to a bigger party.”
“Today he is within União Brasil, he is a distinguished person in our party, and we have to wait for his decision on what he intends to do within the party, whether he wants to be a candidate for senator or federal deputy. For him to be a candidate for vice president today, he has to go through the founding council. He has already met and nominated the candidate for president, and for vice president he also has to pass. Now, outside of that, you don’t need to.”
This Tuesday, the Regional Electoral Court of the State of São Paulo (TRE-SP), by 4 votes to 2, upheld the PT’s appeal against the decision that had approved Moro’s request for transfer of electoral domicile from Curitiba to capital of São Paulo. He said he was surprised by the opinion.
“I was surprised by the decision of the São Paulo TRE in the action proposed by the PT. In the streets, I feel the support of people who, like me, are proud of the result of Lava Jato and have not given up fighting for Brazil. I will soon announce my next steps. But it is certain that I will not give up on Brazil”, said Moro.
About the case, Bivar expressed the following sentence: “but as he gave the statement now, I learned that he said he does not give up on Brazil, and we will not give up on Sergio Moro.”
