US President Joe Biden condemned Sunday’s (15) apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump and condemned political violence in a speech in Philadelphia on Monday (16).
Biden praised the Secret Service for its “expert handling” of the situation and said the agency’s acting chief, Ronald Rowe, is in Florida “determining whether further adjustments need to be made to ensure the safety of our former president,” in remarks at the National HBCU Week Conference.
The president added that “there is no place for political violence in America — none. Zero. … In America, we resolve our differences peacefully at the ballot box, not at the point of a gun.”
Biden added that assassination “doesn’t solve anything. It just destroys the country. We must do everything we can to prevent it and never give it oxygen.”
