“There is no political reason; Brazilians’ turn to leave Gaza will come”, says Israeli ambassador

Israel’s ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine, denied CNN that Brazilians were excluded from the first list of foreigners to leave Gaza for political reasons.

“It was not for political reasons. Americans and Canadians were not included, and Brazilians are no less friends of Israel. The Brazilians’ turn will come,” said Zonshine.

The ambassador was unable to specify when Brazilians should be allowed to leave the Gaza Strip, but stressed that the United States and Canada have a very close relationship with Israel and are not on the first list.

The departure of nationals from Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Finland, Indonesia, Jordan, Japan, the Czech Republic, Red Cross and NGO personnel was authorized.

The Brazilian government has been making intense efforts to get Brazilians out of Gaza. Minister Mauro Vieira has already spoken four times with the Egyptian chancellor, twice with his Israeli counterpart and also with the Qatari chancellor, who has helped with mediation.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has also addressed the issue in his conversations with international leaders.
