The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this Monday (1st) that, so far, there is no record of Brazilians affected by the 7.5 magnitude earthquake that hit western Japan. Japanese authorities have not yet released the number of victims.
The Consulate General of Brazil in Tokyo informed citizens living in the country, via social media, that Japanese authorities had issued a tsunami alert for the entire region bathed by the Sea of Japan, with particular intensity for Ishikawa.
“Residents of Ishikawa, as well as Toyama, Niigata, Fukui, Yamagata and the north coast of Hyogo are asked to pay attention to warnings and recommendations from local authorities,” the consulate said.
The cities mentioned in the publication are under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazil in Nagoya. Itamaraty monitors the situation through the Brazilian Embassy in Tokyo and consulates in Japanese territory.
