The CEO and founder of Zmes, Marcelo Tripoli, stated in an interview with CNN that Apple had no technical reason to adopt technology other than USB-C. The company did so by “market reserve”.
“USB-C is proven to be the best, fastest technology for transfer. There was no technical reason for Apple not to adopt this technology, other than a market reserve, having a technology that it owned,” he said.
“This is a blessing for all consumers. There’s nothing more unpleasant than having your cell phone at a friend’s house or at a restaurant and the cable doesn’t work,” he added.
The expert also explained that Apple was ahead of a European Union rule, approved in 2022, which would oblige it to adopt USB-C by 2025.
“It was something that the European regulator forced Apple to do, it is not something that the company would do on its own”, he indicated.
