“There was so much blood that I was scared,” says the Greek woman injured in the Istanbul attack

Through the hospital where the Greek woman who was injured in Istanbul is being treated the bombing in Turkey spoke to Ant1 correspondent Anna Andreou.

The 39-year-old who is being treated in a hospital Istanbuldescribed the tragic moments she experienced during the explosion and as she said characteristically, she feels lucky because she was just a few meters away from the site of the attack.

“I was in Istiklal walking comfortably and as I was on the right side of Istiklal, three shops down there was an explosion. At that moment of shock. In the air a white flash, the wind blows you back. I do not know how to say it. Your life stops. Until now we have seen these on TV. But thank God I am healthy, able-bodied, I have nothing but my leg, the cane the doctors must do well for me. I hope to forget this sad event. I saw some dead bodies. Corpses? Injuries? Quickly, fleetingly. At that moment you look to realize that there was an explosionsaid the woman who was in Istanbul for vacation.

“After this shock you automatically understand that it is an explosion, terrorists. You look around and see that there is chaos, war. Very bad time. People are running in panic. I was down on the ground. Suddenly I saw a lot of blood running from my leg. I was scared. If you don’t experience it, you can’t understand the fear you feel. There were people in much worse condition, some died. I just thank God that I’m alive, I’m very luckysaid the 39-year-old.

“I felt shock, terror and some people helped me, they took me to a shop, they closed the blinds. People were crying, panic, voices, babies, parents. Then we waited for the ambulances. They took me further and my leg there was so much blood that I was scared nothing worse has happened. Men, women from the shop helped me but I was terrified. I am very sorry for the people who died, may God rest his souls and let me once again thank God that I live” finally emphasized the woman.
