There’s still a lot of taboo around sex in literature, says teen phenomenon author

Known as a “hot novel”, the book “Through My Window” became a phenomenon among teenagers and won a screen adaptation in Netflix .

The author is the Venezuelan writer Ariana Godoy, who says there is no formula for writing about sex for young people, the important thing is to “create real characters”.

Now, the sequel to the first success arrives in Brazil with the title “Through you” published by Intrinseca, and promises to engage readers with “a novel that grows slowly and burns”, as the author describes in an interview with CNN .

“There’s still a lot of taboo about sex in literature,” he says.

When talking about how to keep the sensuality in the stories, in a way suitable for the teen audience, the writer added: “There is no formula, just a huge focus on creating the characters and making them real and human with their impulses, mistakes and victories” .

Ariana Godoy is from Venezuela and currently lives in the United States. At 32 years old, the author is considered one of the biggest phenomena on Wattpad – a platform that allows the sharing of stories.

On the app, the young writer has 2.1 million followers and more than 350 million hits to her most famous story, “Através da minha Janela”.

She is considered a pioneer in using Wattpad to reach the publishing market.

About the scope of her works, Ariana Godoy says that she didn’t expect “no way” that she would be successful.

“I started writing the novel because I wanted to have fun, not take it too seriously. I wrote what I wanted to read at the time. It started [a carreira] with Wattpad, it was that door between my stories and the readers. I remember going to a friend’s house to ask him to borrow his internet to update my stories,” he says.

The book is the sequel to “Through My Window”, a literary phenomenon that became an international bestseller.

The film inspired by the first volume ranked number one on Netflix in 22 countries, and filming on the second film has already begun.

“Unbelievable. It took me a long time to absorb and I’m happy with the adaptations. When I miss my characters, I can watch them on Netflix or read them back on paper. It’s beautiful to meet them in different formats,” says Ariana.

The story of the Hidalgo brothers gets a new chapter in “Through you “. In the second volume of the trilogy, Ariana Godoy introduces readers to the forbidden relationship between Artemis, the eldest of the Hidalgo brothers, and Claudia, the family’s maid.

Writer Ariana Godoy often applies elements of her own life as an immigrant in the United States to her characters.

THE CNN she talks about the importance of young Latinos being represented in the works, and says that she intends to delve even further into this theme.

“Of course, this feeling of not completely fitting into a place or a group of people is something that is very present in my stories and that I intend to deepen in the future”, he said.

About the plans for the future, by the way, she says that she intends to write a lot and do an autograph tour next year.
