The maximum temperature recorded on Monday (17) in the city of Rio de Janeiro was 37.8°C, at 15:15, at Santa Cruz station, in the west. But, according to the Alerta Rio System, the thermal sensation reached 49.7°C in the same place.
And the expectation is that Rio heats up even more in the next 48 hours. Climatempo forecasts a temperature of around 37° for this Tuesday (18) and 38°C for Wednesday (19).

Meteorologist Josélia Pegorim, from Climatempo, explains that the high atmospheric pressure system is acting more strongly over the Southeast region this week.
“High pressure reduces cloudiness, which lets the sun shine brighter for longer,” said the expert.
She adds that, in Rio, without the presence of cold air nearby and with the large number of hours of sunshine, the temperature rises quickly.
Even so, with the intense heat, some heavy clouds can form, and the chance of rain showers in the late afternoon or at night cannot be ruled out”, informed the meteorologist.
Also according to Josélia, the change in temperature in the Southeast is not linked to the heat wave in Rio Grande do Sul and Argentina, but to the decrease in clouds and the lack of cold wind, which raised the temperature.

Although the high pressure prevents large clusters of heavy clouds from forming, rain showers could happen until the end of this week, in small areas, but it could be strong.
Climatempo reported that the meteorological models do not indicate a risk for large accumulations, however, as there will be moments of storm, it is recommended that municipalities continue to pay attention to the most vulnerable areas, as there is a risk of disturbances such as landslides, landslides, floods, flooding and occurrences related to lightning, wind and hail.
