In the Iran strangers they desecrated the grave of Mahsha Amini who died after being detained for removing her hijab, which has since sparked serious unrest for women’s rights.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN)based in France, said the tomb, which bears her Kurdish name Zina in large Persian letters, was attacked on the morning of May 21.
“Unfortunately, on Sunday morning, people we know who had already acted in the same way in the past attacked the grave of Zina Mahsa Amini,” said the family’s lawyer, Saleh Nikbakhtin a statement released by KHRN.
He did not specify who those persons were, adding that the authorities had previously intervened to prevent the construction of a protective shed over the grave.
“So your tombstone glass bothers them too? Let them break it a thousand times, we will restore it again, let’s see who gets tired first,” Ashkan Amini said in his message on social media.
According to Norwegian NGO Iran Human Rights (IHR)the repression of the demonstrations has caused the death of more than 500 people. Iran also proceeded to hang seven men on charges related to the protests in what activists describe as a deliberate policy aimed at creating a climate of fear.
Amnesty International warned this week that a further seven men were at risk of execution in connection with the protests.
