Rescued in a Manhattan park dove which had been dyed pink to be used at a baby gender reveal party. The non-profit Wild Bird Fund said it believed someone painted it on purpose.
“As a domesticated bird unable to forage in the wild, fly well or escape predators, this little one went through quite a bit of trouble before being painted. Fortunately, a good person rescued it in Madison Square Park and it is now being cared for in a safe environment,” he pointed out. In response to a user who asked why someone would paint a pigeon, the organization responded that “gender reveal is a theory that is gaining ground.”
Baby gender reveal parties are a tradition that started in the US, where expectant couples hold a celebration to announce the gender of their child before birth. Usually, they cut a cake or pop balloons, where the color of the cake or the balloon’s contents – pink or blue – also reveals the gender of the baby.
