Thiago Brennand should be heard this Thursday (23)

Businessman Thiago Brennand should be heard this Thursday (23) at the Domestic Violence Court of the Central Criminal Court of São Paulo, which is located in Barra Funda. The hearing will also be attended by witnesses.

At the end of October, Brennand was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in semi-open prison for attacking model Helena Gomes at a gym in 2022. He was also ordered to pay compensation of R$50,000 to the victim.

This is the fourth case in which the businessman is a defendant in the São Paulo Courts that has come to an end. At the beginning of November, he had already been sentenced to ten years and six months for the crime of rape. The other two were closed after agreement between the parties.

Assault in a gym

In 2022, a video surfaced of the businessman attacking model Helena Gomes at a gym in the city of São Paulo. After the images were released, at least 11 other women contacted the Public Ministry of the State of São Paulo. Among the complaints were crimes of rape, false imprisonment and threats.

Then, in October, the court ordered Brennand’s arrest, but he fled to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. The preventive detention was ordered after the businessman did not return to the country to serve his sentence, the warrant for which was carried out by the Federal Police in the Arab country.

However, Brennand spent only one day in prison. The businessman paid bail and was released.

At the beginning of April 2023, the defense of businessman Thiago Brennand asked for the arrest warrants to be revoked so that he could return to the country. However, the São Paulo Court of Justice denied the request.

The businessman began to answer for the crimes of which he is accused, including assaults, false imprisonment, threats and sexual violence since he was deported back to Brazil, on April 29 of this year. Brennand had been in the United Arab Emirates since September 2022, but, following a request from the Brazilian government, extradition was carried out.
