Subaru introduced the world to the third generation of the Subaru XV crossover, which will now be called Crosstrek in all markets. This name was previously used only in North America (USA and Canada), while in Europe, Japan and Russia – XV. We can say that the car was created anew, taking into account the new corporate identity, only the chassis with independent suspensions and most elements of the power frame of the body remained the same. At the same time, Crosstrek became tougher, got LED headlights with cornering lights and the next generation EyeSight system with a new stereo camera.
In the basic configuration, the Subaru Crosstrek has all-wheel drive, is equipped with an e-Boxer hybrid system, consisting of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor that turns on only in certain modes. The company did not name the characteristics of the power plant, but other models suggest that the power is approximately 132 hp. (+ 13 hp in hybrid mode). The Crosstrek also received a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and electric brake booster. Improvements have been made to reduce engine vibration and noise over the current model.
It is based on the latest version of Subaru Global’s modular platform with a more rigid design, where the inner frame is first created, and then the outer body panels are welded. Previously, the frame was made by assembling the upper and lower sections separately, and then they were connected. This design improves vehicle handling and absorbs vibrations. In addition, Crosstrek was additionally upholstered with soundproofing material.
Inside there is a vertical touch screen with a diagonal of 11.6 inches. The seats are designed with the participation of medical professionals, so they have an anatomical shape that reduces fatigue and shaking. The upholstery is available in fabric, polyester and leather.
Sales of the new Subaru Crosstrek will begin in early 2023. First, the novelty will be released on the domestic market, and then in other countries.
