This is not a robot crab, but a GravaStar column. Headphones are even more unusual

As a reviewer, I am constantly confronted with new products from the world of technology, but the impressions from them are not always “new”. Often, manufacturers release a product just to release it, without investing an idea in it. With the heroes of today’s review, the situation is the opposite – both the concept and the implementation here amaze with their creativity, and the design does not leave indifferent even the most skeptical critics.

Design

You haven’t seen anything like that.

Actually, where else to start the review of the GravaStar technique, if not with the design. First, let’s take a look at the Mars Pro speaker, made in the form of a robot crab. This is the first and main product of the brand, from which its history began a couple of years ago.

More about the column

As I said, the column looks like a robot in shape, but the extravagance of the solution is not limited to one appearance. The fact is that the legs on which the Mars Pro stands are movable and can be bent, and this allows you to give the speaker exactly the position you like. By the way, thanks to the “paws”, it can also stand on uneven surfaces, on which more classical acoustics would not have resisted. I note that the speaker stands confidently and does not stagger – largely thanks to the elastic bands on the legs. Oh yeah, the GravaStar Mars Pro is made of zinc and weighs in at a decent 2.5kg. It came as a pleasant surprise when unpacking – after all, the weight gives the structure solidity and reliability. The speaker doesn’t look like a toy at all.

On the top of the speaker there is a touch panel, by stroking which you can adjust the sound. Below there are also buttons to turn on, pause and activate Bluetooth. The dimensions of the GravaStar Mars Pro (190 × 180 × 200 mm) allow it to be conveniently placed on the table without taking up too much space. In general, if we consider the column as an accessory, it delivers a lot of aesthetic pleasure. The most organic Mars Pro looks in combination with gaming keyboards and mice.

Of course, GravaStar Mars Pro could not remain without adjustable backlighting: RGB LEDs are built in here along the entire perimeter. This gives the column character and even some liveliness. Seriously, sometimes it seems that the robot has come to life and is looking at you, especially the insides moving from the bass music complement this. You need to switch the color manually using a button on the case, you can choose from blue, blue, green, yellow, red and pink.

And now about Sirius headphones. In my opinion, they have two unique features. The first is the open top of the case. You heard right. The headphones sit in the charging case, like in a convertible, and are blown around with air. It looks very industrial and stylish – as if you are holding some kind of gadget straight from the Star Wars franchise. And the second feature coincides with the column – the body of the case is made of metal cooling the hand. At the same time, you cannot call it heavy, because the weight is only 95 grams.

The GravaStar Sirius comes with a metal chain – a very unusual accessory. I also thought it was an interesting idea to allocate a separate mechanical button for opening the case. She is on the side here. It takes clicking play to the next level and makes everyone around you even more annoying. But I like. When pressed, the lid of the case seems to shoot, which is a bit like collectible lighters.

In order to facilitate the design, the headphones themselves are made of plastic, which allows them to weigh 5 grams. The earbuds fit comfortably – they do not cause discomfort, do not stick out, do not interfere with wearing a hat and do not fall out even during sports. On the touch panel of each earbud there is a corporate logo and a small LED. Management here is standard and is carried out by means of touches. The manufacturer claims IPX5 water resistance. Swimming with headphones is not recommended, but should not be damaged by sweat and rain.

Sound

Strong bass and high volume

Moving on to the more important characteristics of acoustics, I would like to say that here, too, the GravaStar equipment is doing fine. Mars Pro is equipped with a 62 mm speaker and 25 mm tweeter with a total power of 20 watts. The manufacturer claims that the resistance is 4 ohms and the sensitivity is 86 dB. The speaker produces strong and clear sound with very rich bass. In my opinion, hip-hop sounds best through it, but other genres can be enjoyed not without pleasure. The maximum volume level is prohibitive – it allows you to cover even a large room. Fun detail: When turned on and off, both the speaker and headphones emit Sci-Fi sounds that can be intimidating when first unpacked, but then become an atmospheric addition to the device experience. JBL devices have a similar feature, but they include more boring sounds of a car engine.

Another important feature is the ability to create a stereo pair of two speakers. This way you get both powerful stereo sound and an even more stylish table arrangement. This option seems especially interesting if we take into account the presence of various colors in the line. What is important, the variations not only differ in shade, but have completely different patterns that imitate certain surfaces. For example, the yellow robot in the photo above has clearly gone through more than one battle.

As for the GravaStar Sirius, each of the headphones houses a 7.2 mm speaker, the sound of which is as close as possible to the bass and surround sound of the speaker. This allows the headphones to stand out from the competition, because both AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds 2 sound sharper and less saturated. Again, hip-hop lovers benefit the most from this. Bluetooth in headphones version 5.2, in the same speaker – 5.0. There is a separate game mode with reduced audio latency.

Battery

Everything is within the normal range

Perhaps the quietest and most common part of the GravaStar review is the story about its autonomy. Here, both devices show fairly standard results. The headphones can last about 4 hours outside the case and another 12 hours with it. There is no active noise cancellation in them. The column works at an average volume of about 14-15 hours with the ability to play music while charging. For this, a USB Type-C connector is provided below. By the way, due to the lack of a 3.5 mm Mini Jack on the speaker, a USB Type-C – 3.5 mm cable is included in the kit for a wired connection. Everything is in the spirit of the times.

Review

Unique acoustics

After spending time with the GravaStar headphones and speaker, I have a great impression of these devices. While at first it seems like there is nothing to offer beyond the design of the Mars Pro and Sirius, it quickly becomes clear that this is not the case. Both devices boast powerful surround sound and decent battery life. However, I will not argue, it is their appearance that they fall in love with. Both the headphones and the speaker fit perfectly with the description of “designer thing” and are real gifts for lovers of futuristic aesthetics.

Separately, I would like to note the quality of performance, because this is an important component of the experience of use. They are at their best here – and if a metal case is still found in the speakers from time to time, then in the segment of TWS-headphones GravaStar Sirius is clearly a unique device with no obvious competitors.
