The instability of the Brazilian economy, which should extend into next year, requires consumers to avoid entering 2022 with new indebtedness. This is the warning made by Daniel Sakamoto, executive manager of the National Confederation of Store Leaders (CNDL) during an interview with CNN this Friday (10).
“This is not the time to go into debt on account of end-of-year gifts and celebrations. We know that 2022 will be challenging in economic terms”, explains Sakamoto. It is important that each one takes care of the budget and be creative in order to be able to give gifts without going into debt”, completes the specialist.
The expectation is that the average price of gifts this year will reach R$64, which means a reduction in the real value of spending on end-of-year gifts, discounted for inflation. In 2020, the value was BRL 63 and BRL 61 in 2019, before the pandemic reached Brazil.
Clothes, accessories, books, perfumes and chocolates are the most mentioned items to give away.
