This is the government’s triptych for tackling fan violence

The government will move to crack down on fan violence in the triptych of tightening the framework for fan clubs, making necessary adjustments to the penal code and tightening controls.

“The prime minister’s firm will is to continue the practical effort, without loud announcements and to lead to an even greater reduction of the violence,” the government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou, told reporters.

At the same time, he noted that the initiatives that will be taken will move at three levels.

“Regarding the operation of the fan clubs and their branches, but also the role and responsibilities of the PAE in this operation. The necessary adjustments of the penal code. And the intensification of controls by the Greek Police. At the same time, “Changes will also be made in the way the Hellenic Football Federation is governed”, Mr. Oikonomou pointed out.

Legislative interventions will be included in the sports bill to be tabled in the coming weeks.

“Dealing with violence is our duty to society and especially to the younger generation,” he said.

Regarding the scenarios for a change in the electoral law, Mr. Economou was clear. “The elections will be held on time. They will be held under the current electoral law and will be won by New Democracy,” he said.

And in February subsidize electricity and gas bills

Mr. Economou also focused on the government’s moves to support households and businesses from the waves of precision.

“In the last 4 months of 2021, 1.35 billion euros have been allocated to subsidize electricity and gas bills for households, businesses and farmers. In January alone, 400 million euros were allocated, while a corresponding amount will be allocated in “February,” he stressed.
