“This is Us”: the sixth season will be the last

After a fifth season shot with great effort and interrupted several times due to Covid, NBC breaks the hearts of its viewers and announces that the next cycle of episodes of This is Us, expected between autumn 2021 and spring 2022, will be the last. To anticipate the news was Hollywood Reporter which has, therefore, found confirmation in the words of the creator of the series Dan Fogelman who had always foreseen that the story would unfold in six seasons. In 2019 This is Us it had been renewed directly for another three seasons to allow, in recent years, the writers to plan the Pearson story coherently without opening too many parentheses that would have been destined to remain pending, without a resolution.

“We never decided to do a series that would last eighteen seasons, we have a very specific plan” Fogleman had declared at that juncture. It remains that, after five years, the heart-wrenching family drama par excellence, the one that made the world fall in love with Milo Ventimiglia and reminded everyone of the immense talent of Sterling K. Brown, who for the role of Randall won an Emmy, a SAG and a Golden Globe for Best Actor, closes its doors leaving the viewer in a limbo from which, slowly, he will try to come out, metabolizing the loss.

They deserve it, and the public deserves it.
