This year’s newsroom has a typical Enem theme, according to experts

The writing of this year’s National High School Exam (Enem) had as a background issues related to respect for Human Rights, typical of the test developed by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), evaluate experts heard by the CNN 🇧🇷

Candidates had to write an argumentative-essay text of up to 30 lines on the “challenges for valuing communities and traditional peoples in Brazil”. The first day of the Enem tests takes place this Sunday (13) until 19:00.

“The theme is quite comprehensive, in the sense of leading the candidate to reflect on the other, to look at the other. Which is a very common test profile in the Enem”, analyzes the Language teacher at the Poli Cursinho, Luciane Bernardi.

The director of Teaching and Educational Innovations at SAS Plataforma de Educação, Ademar Celedônio, agrees. “It’s a text well in the frame that Enem likes to contemplate, which is respect for Human Rights”, he explains.

The professor points out, however, that it is still necessary to analyze the collection of motivating texts to understand if the proposal covers different traditional peoples, such as indigenous peoples, quilombolas and riverine people, for example, or if there was any more specific direction.

“The appreciation of a community, if it comes with several elements in this context, can take the student. That is, he is very prepared to talk about indigenous people or he is very prepared to talk about quilombolas, for example, and the entire text is about a single community and does not cover all points. This can cause the student to lose points in competency three,” he explains.

About possible pranks, Luciane uses the keywords in the theme published by Inep. “This ‘traditional people’ already gives us a great opening to think about this diversity that we have. I believe that it is very difficult for the student to touch the theme or think about possibilities that are very distant from what was being presented as motivating texts.”

To stand out and guarantee a high score in the intervention proposal — required by Enem at the conclusion of the text — the teacher cites some of the public agents that may have been used by the participants.

“We could think of countless institutions that work directly for this valorization and deconstruction of prejudice and stigma and guaranteeing the territory. So we have some, like Funai [Fundação Nacional do Índio]the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Agrarian Development, the Executive Secretariat for Policies for the Promotion of Racial Equality, and, of course, the Ministry of Citizenship, which could be used by the candidate as agents to carry out this intervention proposal”, says.

Last year, candidates had to lecture on “invisibility and civil registration: guaranteeing access to citizenship in Brazil”.
