Thousands of citizens took to the streets to demonstrate against the government of Israel

Crowds of people once again took to the streets of Israeli cities on Saturday night to demonstrate against his government Benjamin Netanyahudemanding above all that a deal be struck for the return of hostages held by Hamas' military arm in the Gaza Strip.

Critics of the right-wing prime minister, whose popularity has plummeted since the attack and the war it sparked in the Gaza Strip, argue that he has undermined Israel's security by prioritizing its political survival.

Protest march of relatives of hostages ended on Saturday in Jerusalem, at the official residence of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. Its purpose was to press for an agreement to release the approximately 100 Israeli hostages believed to be still alive in the Gaza Strip.

According to reports, demonstrations also took place in Haifa, Beersheba and Caesarea, in front of the Israeli prime minister's country house.

On October 7, Hamas' military arm launched an unprecedented raid on southern Israel targeting the Gaza Strip, killing more than 1,160 people, mostly civilians, according to a count based on official Israeli data.

During the attack, some 250 people were kidnapped and taken to the Gaza Strip. According to Israeli sources, more than 130 hostages remain in the Palestinian enclave, of which 31 are believed to be dead, after the release of more than 105 hostages, in exchange for the release of 240 Palestinians by Israel, at the end of November, when a truce was declared week.

In retaliation for the attack, the Israel vowed to “eliminate” Hamas, in power in the Gaza Strip since 2007, which it, like the US and the EU, characterizes as a “terrorist” organization.

Since then, the Israeli army has been relentlessly pounding the Gaza Strip and since October 27 has been conducting ground operations, which began in the northern part of the enclave and gradually moved to the south.

In Israel's incessant shelling and ground operations, 30,320 people have lost their lives so far, the vast majority of them women and children, according to the latest report by the Hamas Health Ministry, which was made public yesterday Saturday.
