Thousands of people protested in Casablanca, Morocco: “Stop the genocide in Gaza”, the banners read

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated today in Casablanca in Moroccoexpressing their solidarity with Palestinians and their opposition to the normalization of their country’s relations with the Israel.

Stop the Genocide in Gaza’, ‘Open the Rafah Crossing’ and ‘Close the Zionist Office in Rabat» were written on the banners held by the gathered.

The demonstration was organized on the initiative of the “Moroccan Front of Support to Palestine and Against Normalization” in which leftist parties and Islamists participate. THE Jamal El Asrithe coordinator of this front, spoke of “hundreds of thousands” of participants, noting that this mobilization “proves once again that the Moroccan people speak with one voice, that of support for Palestine”.

Men, women and children gathered on a central artery of the city holding Palestinian flags. “We have come to express our solidarity with the Palestinian people, to demand the lifting of the blockade of Gaza and an end to the war“, he told AFP Amina Buchelhal.

The Morocco and Israel normalized diplomatic relations in December 2020 under the Abraham Accords, a process supported by Washington.
