Thousands protest in Spain and call for governor to resign after deadly floods

Thousands of protesters marched this Saturday (30) against the governor of the Valencia region, Carlos Mazon, and demanded his resignation following the deadly floods that hit Spain recently.

The floods, which occurred on October 29, were the country’s worst natural disaster in decades.

This is not the first protest against the regional leader: last week there were demonstrations by families and teachers over damage to schools.

Mazon was accused of sending flood warnings to residents too late.

He admitted making mistakes but refused to step down and said the body responsible for measuring water flows, run by the national government, had not sent enough warnings.

More than 200 people died in Spain due to flooding.
