Three cities in Rio de Janeiro already confirm the Influenza A epidemic

The State Department of Health (SES) also recognizes that there is an epidemic, activated its contingency plan and installed three tents to reinforce care.

The new facilities are located in the Emergency Care Units (UPAs) in Marechal Hermes and Tijuca, in the North Zone, and in Botafogo, in the South Zone. .

The SES highlights that the moving average of daily visits to patients with flu-like symptoms in UPAs in the capital rose from 173 in the period from 15 to 20 November to more than 4,500 in the period from four to seven of December. A growth of over 2600%.

On Thursday (9), the SES reported having noticed an increase in the number of cases in four more cities: Belford Roxo, Duque de Caxias, Niterói and São Gonçalo, all cities in the Metropolitan Region.

Also on Friday, the city of Rio de Janeiro received another 400,000 doses, donated by the government of the state of São Paulo, through the Butantan Institute.
