Digital influencer Aline Ferreira, 33, who died as a result of complications after a cosmetic procedure on her buttocks, fainted on the way between a hospital in Brasília and her home, according to the victim’s aunt.
Aline underwent the procedure on June 23 at a clinic in Goiânia. She returned to the Federal District, where she lived, the same day, but then began to feel unwell.
According to Elisangela Maria Lima, the influencer’s aunt, Aline had a fever about three days after having polymethyl methacrylate, also known as PMMA, applied to her buttocks. She called Grazielly da Silva Barbosa, who performed the procedure and was the owner of the clinic. She is under arrest and the clinic has been closed down.
“Grazi prescribed her medication. She took these medications, but the pain didn’t go away. And she started to feel a lot of abdominal pain. And then her husband took her to a private hospital,” says Elisangela, who did not give the name of the establishment to which Aline had been taken.
At the hospital, her aunt says, Aline was given medication and released. “On the way home, she fainted. And then her husband took her to HRAN [Hospital Regional de Asa Norte]. When she arrived at HRAN, they admitted her immediately,” she recalls.
Aline’s aunt claims that, upon learning of the patient’s hospitalization, Grazielly went from Goiânia to Brasília.
The influencer stayed at HRAN for one day before being transferred to a private hospital in the capital. After the transfer, her aunt says, Grazielly no longer visited Aline. The owner of the clinic reportedly sent her father, who was introduced as a pastor, to check on the patient’s health.
“The person is emotionless, in my opinion. How can you perform a procedure that you know could cause to a person and send your father? Her father arrived there saying he was a pastor. We didn’t accept it and he left.”
Elisangela says she sent a message to Grazielly on WhatsApp asking about her father’s presence at the location. “She told me: ‘It’s because I wanted to see Aline’s real situation, to see how she was’. And I said: ‘If you want to know, talk to her husband, because we’ve been looking for you for two days and we haven’t been able to talk to you’.”
According to the incident report, Aline died on Tuesday (2), around 9 pm. Her body was buried this Thursday (4).
Lack of information about risks
Delegate Débora Melo, from the State Department for the Repression of Crimes Against Consumers in Goiás, stated today that Grazielly did not provide detailed information to Aline about the risks of the procedure she underwent.
“At no time [a dona da clínica] explained to Aline what the risks of that gluteal bioplasty, that is, that increase in the buttocks, really would be. She simply said that it was a calm, very simple procedure, that she had already done on other patients and the result had been great”, said the delegate.
The influencer’s aunt also said that the clinic owner had said that the procedure would be simple. “When she told Aline, she said: ‘I’ve already done it on myself, there’s no problem at all’. But I don’t know if she’s done this procedure on other people.”
