Three dead from the collapse of a building in the capital of Nigeria

Three people were killed after a three-storey building collapsed in its capital NigeriaAbuja, as announced on Friday by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Rescuers have pulled 21 survivors from the rubble of the collapsed building in Gwarinpa, a developed district of the Nigerian capital, as the search and rescue operation entered its second day, a spokesman told Xinhua news agency by telephone. NEMA Mancho Ezekiel.

The building under construction collapsed under unclear circumstances on Thursday afternoon, trapping dozens of workers.

The building collapses they are not uncommon in Nigeria and are often attributed by experts to old structures with poor maintenance, non-compliance with planning regulations and use of low-quality construction materials.
